Ms. Brand is responsible for the strategic direction, positioning, partnerships, programmes and scope of work of the ICLEI Africa Secretariat. Reporting to the Secretary General of ICLEI and the ICLEI Africa Board of Directors, her task is to build and maintain a strong and viable ICLEI Africa Office with a broad
membership base of local and regional authorities and their national associations across the African continent.
Ingrid has over 25 years’ experience in sustainability and environmental governance in national, provincial and local government, and 10 years consulting experience.
She has worked in the environment and agriculture sectors and her expertise includes environmental management, sustainable development, public participation processes, strategy development, environmental policy and law reform, protected areas and biodiversity conservation.

Having served as a municipal official in South Africa, Meggan recognises the vital role that sub-national government play in achieving international and local ambitions. Meggan is dedicated to developing innovative solutions to challenges faced in Africa.
Michelle has over 15 years of experience in the field of environmental communications and behaviour change, most of these within local government, and covering a broad range of environmental issues.
Her role in integrating the functions of communications, membership and knowledge management provides an excellent platform for initiating and supporting local action to bring about tangible improvements in global sustainability.

Stephanie has been working at ICLEI Africa since 2011. She started as an assistant for the Financial Manager, assisting with Project reporting.
She is now doing the company's accounting and making sure the books are in order for the Annual Financial Statement, whilst helping where needed in Financial Reporting.
Sustainable development has always been a big passion of hers due to living on a self-sufficient island all her life.
Her key responsibilities are logistics, office administration and events management and Membership. Previously Faghmieda worked as a Network Coordinator and Chapter Manager at Enablis SA.
Faghmieda was responsible for the successful event management and coordination of member events, coaching sessions and other support activities provided by Enablis. She holds a Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

Thea realised her passion for environmental communication whilst embarking on a transdisciplinary research study for her Master’s which bridged the divide between communication and ecology.
She joined the ICLEI team in 2016 and manages the social media, websites, content creation and promotional material design for ICLEI Africa and ICLEI’s Cities Biodiversity Center. She also runs the communication aspect of the various projects.
After a career start in Ecology and Conservation, Ernita developed an interest in issues of values, behaviours, ecosystem services (benefits), dialogue and legitimacy and in particular how these aspects interact to shape the trajectory of social-ecological systems.
These ideas have been applied (research and practice) to restoration and the implementation of policy on invasive species. Ernita recently joined ICLEI as professional officer: urban development.

Tarryn has been working at ICLEI Africa Secretariat since 2009 on Urban water and sanitation projects that make a clear link to climate change adaptation. Tarryn is currently managing a number of projects and networks including Sustainable Urban Resilient Water 4 Africa: Developing Local Climate Solutions for Africa (SURe Water 4 Africa: Developing LOCS), the Africa Water and Sanitation Local Authorities (AWASLA) Network and ICLEI’s role in the AfriAlliance Project.

Jess Kavonic completed her Masters Degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the University of Cape Town in 2013. Subsequently to joining ICLEI Africa she worked at the City of Cape Town focusing on a range of projects and programmes whilst engaging with communities to bridge divides between people and nature.

Kirsty joined ICLEI in 2015 and has worked on, most notably, the Local Action for Biodiversity: Wetlands South Africa project. Prior to joining ICLEI, Kirsty was an environmental consultant for several years and was responsible for conducting Environmental Impact Assessments, developing localised environmental management plans and facilitating public participation processes to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
