Mesoscale rainfall patterns observed around wetlands in sub‐Saharan Africa
Publication

Wetlands constitute a key component of the tropical African landscape, providing important fluxes of water and carbon between the land and the atmosphere. It is estimated that wetland CH4 emissions represent 20–40% of the global CH4 budget, making them the largest single natural source of atmospheric CH4 (Denman et al., 2007). Wetlands also provide important benefits for aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems via water quality and elements of natural flood control (Acreman and Holden, 2013; Dadson et al., 2017).
