Overstrand Local Municipality

Overstrand stretches along the Western Cape coast between the Kogelberg mountains and Cape Agulhas, taking in the towns of Hangklip–Kleinmond, Greater Hermanus, Stanford and Greater Gansbaai. Its seat, Hermanus, is world-renowned for land-based southern right whale watching, and the municipality's economy rests on tourism, agriculture, fishing and a growing small-business and services sector. The area lies within fynbos-rich landscapes of exceptional biodiversity, including the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, and the municipality manages Blue Flag beaches, estuary mouths and water-conservation programmes along its shoreline.
