Kerewan Area Council is the local government authority for The Gambia's North Bank Region, headquartered in the riverside town of Kerewan with a second office at Barra, the ferry gateway opposite Banjul. The region spreads across the Baddibu and Niumi districts along the north bank of the River Gambia, where groundnut farming, rice, horticulture and river trade shape daily life. The Council's mandate spans water supply, sanitation, waste management, roads, markets and land administration, and it has expanded municipal waste collection and rural water works with partners including UNDP and UNCDF.
