Member summary
The Ethiopian Cities Association is the national membership association of Ethiopia’s cities and municipalities, established in February 2009 as the Ethiopian Cities Network with 19 founding cities and formally registered as a consortium in March 2011. A voluntary, not-for-profit body owned by and accountable to its members, it is governed by a General Assembly of member-city mayors, an Executive Board chaired by the Mayor of Hawassa, and a Secretariat headed by a Director-General. ECA works to improve living conditions for Ethiopia’s urban population through capacity building, training, research and peer learning among cities, and by advocating for its members’ interests and convening national urban dialogue, including the Ethiopian Urban Forum.
