The City of uMhlathuze Local Municipality is the third largest municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal province. The city itself is home to the deepest harbour on the continent, and an impressive ecosystem of wetlands and natural water features, including Lake Cubhu, Lake Mzingazi, Lake Nsezi and Lake Nhlabane. Popular with nature enthusiasts and bird watchers, uMhlathuze offers an array of natural green spaces as well as the Alkantstrand Blue Flag Beach.
