District Council of Grand Port

The District Council of Grand Port, seated at Rose Belle, serves the villages of south-eastern Mauritius across roughly 260 km². The district takes its name from Old Grand Port, the island's first Dutch landing site, and its historic coastal town of Mahébourg looks out over Grand Port Bay. It is a district of striking natural assets — the marine waters of Blue Bay, the indigenous forests of the Vallée de Ferney and the restored ecosystems of Île aux Aigrettes — alongside agriculture, fishing, tourism and the island's international airport.
