ABOUT

Member summary

Katabi Town Council is an urban local government in Wakiso District, in Uganda’s Central Region, occupying the stretch of the Entebbe peninsula along the northern shores of Lake Victoria between Entebbe and Kampala and served by the Kampala–Entebbe road. Its lakeside trading centres and fast-growing residential areas make it one of the most rapidly urbanising councils in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area, with an economy built on trade, services, markets, education institutions and lakeshore tourism. Parts of the internationally important Lutembe Bay wetland system fall within its boundaries, placing water and wetland management at the centre of the Council’s mandate, and ecological restoration of the degraded Nambigirwa wetland is currently under way within the town council area.
