Municipal Council of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill

Beau Bassin-Rose Hill is Mauritius's third-largest town, set in the Plaines Wilhems district on the central plateau between Port Louis and Quatre Bornes, with some 147 000 residents across ten localities. Its twin identity is written into its name — a pond to the north gave “Beau Bassin”, while “Rose Hill” recalls the rosy light on the Corps de Garde mountain that overlooks the town. Long regarded as a cultural and educational centre, it is home to historic colleges, theatres and a lively commercial core, and has adopted a Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Strategy for 2023–2030.
