Project summary

BRokering Innovation for Decentralised climate finance & Gender Equality (BRIDGE) is improving the quantity and quality of local adaptation finance in Cameroon, by bridging knowledge, capacity and information gaps between the public and private sector actors that are crucial to take locally led adaptation projects from idea to implementation.

We are doing so by:

  • Mapping the adaptation finance landscape in Cameroon to increase transparency, and identify opportunities and gaps.
  • Building the capacities of Cameroonian actors through GESI, finance and governance training and coaching, improving their ability to access and manage quality adaptation finance.
  • Influencing existing finance mechanisms to ensure they are better aligned with the realities and needs of those most impacted by climate change.

Launched in 2023, the BRIDGE project is supported by the Step Change initiative, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.

Project aims

This project works to ensure that context- and community-appropriate adaptation interventions are implemented in ways that empower local stakeholders, including women.

"Our vision is to close the knowledge-to-action gaps by empowering and enhancing the capabilities of key knowledge brokers and their networks. Our ultimate goal is to unlock financial resources for gender-responsive and inclusive locally-led adaptation, fostering a more resilient and equitable future for all."

CAMEROON ADAPTATION FINANCE LANDSCAPE

Designed for financiers, policymakers, local impact brokers, and national and subnational governments in Cameroon, the Cameroon Adaptation Finance Landscape tool clarifies adaptation finance flows and gaps and facilitates inclusive local adaptation by increasing transparency and knowledge on these finance flows.

WEBINAR SERIES | Training programme on financing gender-responsive adaptation

This training programme strengthens the capacities of knowledge brokers in the planning, preparation and prioritisation of local climate change adaptation and gender-responsive projects, and in understanding the financial ecosystem to move climate finance to local actors and projects.
