Why are we here
Putting food firmly on the urban sustainability agenda: We exist to elevate the role of cities and local governments in solving Africa’s food system challenges. This means healthier, more prosperous cities backed by sustainable rural value chains.
The African City Food Centre aims
We aim to be the leading convener of urban food systems action in Africa and the go-to team of urban food systems professionals in the region. We support ICLEI’s global City Food program by bringing African experience into the international arena.
How
We believe there is no substitute for lasting partnerships, depth of engagement and sustained commitment to the cities we work with. We work across four thematic pillars of expertise, and connect these through relational network development and applied knowledge exchange.
Theory of change
Change starts with small but concrete actions among small groups of visionary champions responding to pressing challenges. Change spreads when others are connected to these actions and are inspired and enabled to get involved to shift the wider system.
