KwaDukuza Local Municipality, in iLembe District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, has been a notably active ICLEI Member. It was initially a key City in ICLEI’s Urban-LEDS project, but has distinguished itself through its commitment to sustainable development in a great many other ways.

Member of the Month: July 2014 Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality

One the first Cities in Africa to join the ICLEI network, Johannesburg has long been a pioneer in sustainable development on the African continent. The City’s motto is “A world-class African city” and now, with its first issuing of Green City Bonds, we would like to declare it the ICLEI member of the month for July, 2014.
