Project summary
The TRANS-SAFE project involves national, regional, and city-level demonstrations to test different types of innovative and integrated Safe System solutions, complemented by a comprehensive toolbox, capacity development, policy support and replication activities. To maximize impact, the project brings together a consortium of highly committed cities, road safety agencies and experts from both Europe and Africa.
ICLEI Africa is part of a consortium of just about 30 partners from both Africa and Europe undertaking the Transforming Road Safety in Africa project [TRANS-SAFE] which is aimed at improving road safety in Africa, through the safe systems approach. Some of the components of the project involve research and Data collection, undertaking analysis, capacity building and developing training materials and other resources as well as undertaking demonstration actions in 4 cities namely:
- Kigali Rwanda
- Kumasi, Ghana
- Lusaka Zambia
- Cape Town, South Africa
