eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality

As one of the oldest members of ICLEI, the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality is committed to sustainable development and climate resilient solutions. Some of the municipality’s focus areas include urban planning, waste management and social and economic development initiatives. By 2030, eThekwini Municipality plans to be “Africa’s most caring and liveable city, where all citizens live in harmony”. With sustainability being one of its core values, the municipality is committed to preserving the many biodiverse spaces that can be found throughout.
