The Green Times
With the unfolding climate and other environmental crises the news media across the world carry an urgent responsibility to inform and educate the public about mitigation and adaptation strategies. Public education in the form of inspiring and solutions-focused stories is essential now to a sustainable future on this planet. Particularly in the developing world this is not happening. This is the gap which the Green Times set out to fill 4 years ago. Green Times is South Africa’s fortnightly green e-newsfeed dedicated to pro-active articles to inform climate solutions and a healthy society, as well as an active Green Calendar and Directory.
Focused on the development of sustainability thinking, coupled with practical implementation and innovation, GT publishes green news daily since 2008 on www.thegreentimes.co.za and sends out every second Friday a weekly, free, national and international newsfeed to subscribers. Through partnerships with the green business sector, GT shares environmental best practice stories and creative solutions to support the education and transformation of our society. The editor, Elma Pollard, also runs an online course for the development of eco journalists, called Write for Earth.
Green Africa Directory
The Green Africa Directory is an online pan-African green network that promotes & connects the environmental and sustainability sector across the African continent.
The directory showcases an extensive and searchable repository of green organizations, companies, products, projects and initiatives from around the continent.
Launched in 2012, the Green Africa Directory is a central online ‘green hub’ of sustainability news and information in Africa – listing green events, green jobs & tenders, green specials & competitions and featuring green news. It aims to inspire action for sustainability, raise awareness, and facilitate green knowledge-sharing, collaboration and innovation.
Africa has a wealth of green organizations and initiatives. The Green Africa Directory aims to mainstream green options, raise collective awareness for environmental issues, promote and gain additional support for green organizations, products and services and profile green solutions. It also aims to provide a source of inspiration for a green and sustainable future.
