Resource summary

Understanding the key challenges facing urban food systems is the first step to overcoming them. The good news is that cities are already taking action – but they need assistance and support in order to do more. By connecting cities that share similar urban food systems challenges, the AfriFOODlinks project is fostering knowledge exchange and solution sharing across cities, regions and continents. In March 2023, AfriFOODlinks surveyed officials from 16 cities from across Africa and Europe to better understand the issues facing their urban food systems. Here are just a few examples of how local governments are taking action.
